Music And Identity: Self-Representation Via Music?

I'm Sarah and I'm writing my thesis (MA) in cultural anthropology. The topic of my thesis is: Self-representation via music of British Asians in the UK.
I'm looking for participants who are into any kind of British Asian music and who were born and/or brought up in the UK but whose parents or maybe grandparents are from the South Asian subcontinent.
To get to know more about this topic I've created an online survey in which you can take part by following the link below. The participation is anonymous.

It'd be really great if some of you would be willing to participate. It'd be an important help and I'm very excited about the various results!
Thank you in advance and please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. I'm also happy to further chat about the topic on this forum.
Cheers,
Sarah

Just read your complete. Thank you very much for taking the survey! Hope you enjoyed a bit. I really appreciate it and read your complete with great interest. :-) And thank you also for your tips. I might indeed get back to you when I can think of more questions:-)
Btw: It's funny you can say "good day" in German. That's actually my mother tongue;-)
Cheers,
Sarah

So why did you choose this subject? How are you gathering your information? and what are the points you're hoping to cover in your conclusion?
Just interests me that's why.

Well, I wanted to write something about identity and cultural identity respectively because I think it's very interesting by what things a persons' identity is being influenced.
Because I wanted to have my thesis something to do with London (now it's UK;-) and because our department at university is focussed on the study of non-European (excuse the eurocentrical terminology;-) societies I chose „British-Asians“ as my „subject“ since the „Asian“ in B-A includes the South Asian aspect ;-)
And why not e.g. Chinese or Brazilians? Well, I think since I've been learning bharata natyam for a while I have developed a certain interest in South Asian „culture“. And I know more Indians than Chinese or Brazilians ;-)
I just thought it would be very interesting to focus on British Asians as they've grown up with two or even more cultural backrounds. So I'm curious how people see themselves and how they live „between two cultures“ if you want to use that term at all. At least I'm quite sceptical about the term „between“ two cultures since it implies or suggests that there're two different cultures who seem kind of self-contained entities and I rather go for culture as a progress. What do you think about that? This would also be an interesting topic for a new thread I guess. ...And I love music! :-) and of course for my analysis I needed something concrete from where I could work about the identity-thing, so music was my choice.
Of course this doesn't mean I will write in my work: „British-Asians“ see themselves like this and that.
Firstly there're as many different views as there're people and secondly I'd need far more interviews (real face-to-face interviews where I could go deeper into certain questions-this would be necessary for a doctorial thesis of course). But I think there might occur some tendencies and from there I'll work, always bearing in mind that there's no such thing as „the“ British-Asians.
I hope that helps you to understand my subject. :-)

I wanted to do some face-to-face-interviews but unfortunately there's not enough time for this and no people ( I know who fit ;-)

It's interesting that you think so. Well, I don't think they repeat themselves. It's just, since it's only an online-survey I had to ask more questions which go in the same direction to cover it and to get "enough" information respectively. It'd be different if I did face-to-face-interviews where I would just go deeper into certain questions. So I'm sorry if it seemed like I was just putting the same questions twice but it's important for my analysis. Did you take the survey though?
